COACHES NEWS

RECREATIONAL COACHES - WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

Coaches,

Thank you for volunteering to be a coach or an assistant coach in the East Diablo Youth Soccer League. You are an integral part of the development of youth as soccer players, and as people. For the upcoming season, there are a few things you need to complete.

1.Complete CYSA 1628 Disclosure. Please fill out online (click on this link), print out 2 copies and mail them with a 1x1 picture to the EDYSL Registrar, 1145 Second Street A-232, Brentwood, CA 94513

2.Attend the appropriate coaching module for the age group(s) you are working with.

·U6-U8 Module

·U9-U12 Module

·U13 and Older – F or E license

The course schedule can be on the EDYSL web site, in the Clinics section of the Coach's Corner.

3.Attend a Grade 9 Referee Course. This is the entry level coaching course for all. This gives the participant the basic rules of the game. The referee course is free for EDYSL recreational coaches. The course schedule is listed in the Clinics section of the Coach's Corner on the EDYSL web site. NOTE – EDYSL is phasing in over the next two seasons that each recreational coach needs to complete at least the Grade 9 course.

Again we want to thank you for volunteering. Teams are being formed, and Age Group Coordinators will be in contact over the next few weeks. Rosters will be handed out at the Coaches Meetings on July 7th (U6 to U8) and July 8th (U9 to U19).

REFEREE COURSE INFORMATION FOR COACHES

This year, we are asking all of our coaches to attend a Grade 9 referee course at a cost of $40. The league will reimburse the first year's registration fee after 3 games. Additionally, there will be compensation to referee the games (referee pay schedule). The reason is that there is always some number of referees going through the course that never referee a game thus providing no benefit to the cost associated with the league covering the course.

EDYSL does not pay for the license up front, the new referee does
After the referee does 3 games for EDYSL, EDYSL will reimburse the referee for the first year's registration fee
- EDYSL Vice President
